Sites of Sagalla

A recent trip to Taita Taveta county reminded me why i should change my judge-at-first-sight attitude.I dint like the small community nestled in the Sagalla hills at first, until a friend took us for a stroll  through  thorned  bushes, down to dry river bed on the edge of the hills.

Out of nowhere..behold one of the most breathtaking scenery's i have ever seen (considering  i hate heights.) I have  never gone mountain climbing because  1) i detest the cold temperatures and 2) i hate walking- so this was the closest i came to touching the  heavens! :)

The dry river bed slopes to the edge of the cliff creating space for sitting and lying down while taking in the magical  beauty of part of the hills and the low lands below. From here, houses in the lowlands look tiny-reduced to mere white dots, only the green vegetation and meandering roads are visible.

Am told,i have to be here at  6AM and 6PM to catch amazing  sunrises and sets and Baboons at their most enthusiastic moods for animal lovers.

Up ahead ,beneath us a river emanating from Latta dam  up the hill, creates small caves finding its way down to the valley below.Tiny small streams , run on the sides of the river bed down to the river in a series of thin water falls.

Such a wonderful place to run to,just to be away from the hustles of life.Away from the noise, people to just sit and reflect.I remember thinking how inspiring praying here would be,how many wonderful pieces i would write here enjoying the gifts of nature.

Unfortunately, we couldn't stay longer,we had to head back to Voi town in the plains.I missed going  on my first ever fishing expedition at the dam, that's definitely a plan for another day.
