I mean a stay here is the perfect get away.So good you forget that the rest of the world exists.
Limuru does not sound like the typical travel destination, right? At least for me it never did.
I've always pictured this highland part of the Nairobi as cold and moody. But now am glad to report, I have had a change of mind.
Two weeks back, I had to go up to Limuru, for a photo shoot at a client's premises. I handle their social media, so I had to pop in for a few professional shots.
Well, let's just say,it wasn't what I expected.
The weather was not as bad as I had pictured it to be.It actually shined throughout the day.
And the sun was God sent. The simmering sun rays through the trees gave me beautiful shots of the garden and the entire premises. I just had to write about it...
The garden
I am tempted to call it Eden, but then i never saw it.It comes close in my imagination.
@ACKstjulians has quite the sanctuary. It starts just out of the administration block ,on the back lawn and extends beyond.
Foresty with well-spaced trees, flower beds, and walk through pavements are favorites here.
The pavements make wonderful aisles for garden weddings.

The well manicured back lawn stretches into the 2 km field beyond. This well mowed field is perfect for team building and garden weddings. If you like to jog too, this is your ultimate Olympic stadium.
The Cottages
I loved the cottages!
They have unique architecture. They have the modern round stone-walled ones and the wooden cabins. The wooden cabins are vintage, built in a long straight line. They were constructed in the1970's when the place was a Convent for Christian missionaries from England.
Visiting Caucasian folks still prefer them when they come around. I loved how spacious and well put together they were.
They have single and double cabins,all self-contained.
Their architecture reminds me of the motels we see in American movies.
The modern cottages are isolated.Each built a distance away from the main building..lost in the garden of trees.
They have their own verandah and a rocking chair to sooth you to sleep. You can sit here and watch the garden as you read a book or something. Or better yet..sleep like me.
The Artifacts
I am not sure whether this is the right word to describe the art themed walls. Great pieces of drawings and paintings are plastered on the walls of the entire center, including the rooms. They give the place such a homely, warm sense of relaxation.
Relaxation spots
Apart from the garden, and rocking chairs, you can relax indoors. I found a wonderful spot in the lounge with a curved glassed window overlooking the garden. The window has a soft pad just beneath it, nice place to sit and just chill!
They have a vintage piano. If you are a music lover,you will have all this to yourself!
Then there's the library. It looks more like a cozy living room.Comfy couches, a stock of century-old books on the shelves that tell of St.Julian's revolutionary missionary history.There's even a fireplace to keep you warm, Limuru can be chilly.
Or you can relax in the front garden on the wooden benches. Some really nice metal and wooden artifacts to keep you company there.
Or better yet connect with your creator at the chapel.It's a small hundred seater centuries church. I am told, the locals hold overnight prayers here occasionally.Its a nice spot to meditate during the day.
Well, there's plenty to see here, such an eye opener. Really looking forward to seeing more of this place very soon, I really want to get lost in Limuru.
